"There are some songs that just stick in your head immediately
after you hear them; especially simple and honest tunes about a guy
declaring how good his woman is to him. That's the case with this
well-produced, 70s inspired single that engages and endears with its
emotive and organic vocals that are punctuated by sparse and melodic
piano playing throughout. Perfect for licensing on the WB (or any
network for that matter)."
[Gian Fiero – 31 January 2008]
Soren Sorensen met Brian Mechlowicz in
1996 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Sorensen
studied Film Scoring while Mechlowicz majored in Music Business. Thanks
to mutual friends, the two played what they affectionately refer to as
"the worst gig ever," a set of covers for a Quincy, Massachusetts high
school prom substance-free after-party. Their first public performance
as a duo came that same year in New York City at a club neither
remembers the name of. Drunk and uninvited, the two took the stage
between acts to pay homage to Hall and Oates with a moving rendition of
"Sara Smile."
After graduation, Sorensen stayed in Boston to pursue a career in film,
while Mechlowicz returned to New York to work in the music business. A
few years later Sorensen finally rejoined Mechlowicz in the big city and
the duo began writing songs and playing gigs at various clubs. In 2005,
Sorensen & Mechlowicz decided to record some tracks at a studio owned by
fellow Berklee alum, Brooke Fox, and her husband, Kurt Gellersted, both
frequent collaborators. Their first single, a double A-side, She's So
Good to Me & Diving Board, is available at CDBaby, iTunes, Napster and
many other fine music retailers. A full-length will be released at
the end of 2008.
Their music has been described as "Ryan Adams meets Bryan Adams" and "Indie-Rock/Easy-Listening",
but their songs definitely reveal their influences better than a phrase
or two; effortlessly mixing a steady diet of classic Brit Pop such as
Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, Travis and Elbow with an obsessive love
(without the slightest hint of sarcasm) for Michael McDonald, Phil
Collins, George Michael, and Air Supply.
